In this year’s 16th edition of the prestigious PRCH Retail Awards competition, Libero Katowice won the silver award in the “ESG Achievements of the Year for Retail Facilities” category, confirming its position as one of the most technologically advanced and responsibly managed shopping centres in Poland. It is also proof that sustainable development is a permanent and strategic value embedded in the DNA of the facility, as confirmed by Libero’s BREEAM In-Use certificate at the OUTSTANDING level with the world’s highest score in the Asset Performance category (97%) and the highest marks in the Building Management area.
The prestigious industry award in the PRCH Retail Awards competition in the category “ESG Achievements of the Year for Commercial Facilities”, awarded for best practices in the areas of environment, social responsibility and corporate governance implemented in the past year, went to Libero Katowice. The competition jury appreciated Libero’s strategic and comprehensive approach to implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards – energy transformation, water management, modern media management and pro-social activities.
The facility has the prestigious BREEAM In-Use green certificate, awarded at the OUTSTANDING level with the world’s highest score in Asset Performance (97%) and the highest marks in Building Management, placing it among the world’s leading shopping centres. Libero also uses 100% green energy, has its own photovoltaic installation and advanced solutions based on artificial intelligence. At the same time, the facility implements numerous social initiatives – from cooperation with foundations and the organisation of charity events to the development of cycling infrastructure and zero-emission mobility. In its relations with tenants, it applies green ESG clauses, raising the standard of cooperation and supporting partners in adapting to environmentally friendly solutions. Libero’s overall strategy is in line with the EU Taxonomy, creating a sustainable management model that sets the benchmark for the retail industry.
The silver PRCH Retail Award is a great honour, but above all, it confirms that a strategic approach to ESG brings real results. At Libero, we have been building a management model for years that combines environmental responsibility, care for the community and the highest operational standards. This is confirmed, among other things, by the BREEAM In-Use certificate at the OUTSTANDING level, a wide range of pro-environmental solutions and a partnership-based approach to cooperation with tenants. This award only strengthens our motivation to continue setting trends in the retail industry,” says Grzegorz Filipczyk, Director of Libero Katowice.
This is another distinction for Libero Katowice. In 2024, in the 15th edition of the PRCH Retail Awards, the jury awarded it the silver prize in the “Retail Facility of the Year – Best Performance” category, and its Director, Grzegorz Filipczyk, was named Director of the Year. In 2022, the facility won the silver award in the “Mobile Application” category for the Libero loyalty platform.
A few weeks ago, Summus Capital announced the acquisition of the Libero shopping centre in Katowice for €103 million, which is the largest single transaction on the commercial real estate market in Poland this year. The purchase strengthens the group’s position in Poland and is in line with its strategy of expanding its portfolio with stable, fully functioning assets. Following this acquisition, Summus’ portfolio comprises 14 properties with a total value of €565 million, more than a third of which are located in Poland.
